The poets, each of them with a very different relationship to their foreign mother tongues, had the opportunity to tell us their story - explaining how their bilingualism bleeds into their poetic voice with the reading of some original & other favourite authors’ poetry.

The evening flowed following the direction of the sun to represent the different times at which we waken up: Kana (Japan), followed by Priya (India), Elif (Turkey) Maria (Cyprus) & Oihane (Spanish). Every poetry performance was accompanied by jazz adaptations of songs from each of the performers’ cultures.

This tongue twisting poetry event served as a celebration of poetry diversity in Norwich, & raised the attention of BBC Radio Norfolk - being featured in Community Playlist.
